In
the northern region , home of nine provinces, the
frontiers of Thailand,
Laos and Myanmar converge.
It
is the site of Thailand's earliest settlers and is
still home today to many Thai and migratory hilltribes.
The
country's second largest city, Chiang
Mai, the Rose of the North is the region's cultural
centre and transportation hub.
The
north provides a wealth of activities to interest
the visitor as well as sites of great archealogical
and anthropological interest.
There
is also a wide range of lodging to suit both the budget
minded or executive traveller.
